I am a contemporary photographic artist working near Nashville, TN. Aside from an apprenticeship I am predominantly self taught.
I have always had a great fascination with the camera. It has the unique ability to capture and preserve a moment in time precisely the way it was. No other artistic medium can truly do this with the same sense of honesty that photography can. At the same time I have always felt somewhat claustrophobic with photography, confined to the viewfinder, forced to simply document the world around me. Wanting to create images more freely I decided to pursue a new method for making photographs. One that would allow me the freedom to depict my thoughts with no restrictions. After several years of experimentation I developed my “Liberum Method”. A method that focuses on subject creation rather than subject documentation. Practicing this allows me to escape the camera’s viewfinder and create truly expressive photographs from imagination and memory. Though I like to keep to the specifics of the method to myself I will say that all of the images are produced using only pure photographic techniques. There in no computer manipulation involved in their creation. Liberum is a latin word meaning free and unrestricted, I believe this definition fully embodies what my work is all about.
